Bioherbicidal Potential of Eucalyptus and Clove Oil and their Combinations on Four Weedy Species

Essential oils of eucalyptus leaves and clove buds were isolated tested for their bioherbicidal potential on different annual weed species. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry analysis (GC-MS) identified thirteen compounds representing around 87.11% the total oil. The main constituent was 1,8-cineole, which accounted 68.15% compounds. As oil, eleven identified, 90.03% Eugenol dominant compound 73.89%. efficacy two combinations by three concentrations (2.5, 5, 10%) four weedy species, namely Chenopodium album, Raphanus raphanistrum, Melilotus indicus, Sisymbrium irio. significantly affected dry weight inhibited seedling growth Using essential oils, individually or within combinations, showed highest against targeted weeds in comparison with synthetic herbicide. In addition, utilization as natural bioherbicides caused an electrolyte leakage a result membrane disruption loss integrity tissues. results possibility using combination desirable alternative to herbicides sustainable management.
